Everything you need to know about La Tunina

What are we?

La Tuniña is the female Tuna of Eindhoven University of Technology, rooted in a centuries-old Spanish student tradition. What started in medieval Spain as students singing and playing Spanish instruments for their supper grew into an international tradition of music, friendship, and adventure.

History notice

This tradition reached Eindhoven in 1964 and evolved into a unique part of TU/e student life. In 1982, La Tuniña was founded as the first female tuna in the Netherlands. Today, we combine music, travel, and strong sisterhood with active involvement in social and university  life through performances, festivals, and international tuna events..

Our activities

One of the highlights of being part of La Tuniña is attending certámenes and tuna festivals both in Eindhoven and across Europe, especially in Spain and Portugal. During these events, Tuna groups from all over the world perform, compete, celebrate tradition together and share their passion for music. Above all, these events are not only about music and performing but also about cultural exchange, friendship and community.

Being a member of Tunina

As a member of La Tuniña, you don’t just learn to play music — you grow with it. From traditional Spanish instruments like guitar, bandurria, laúd, and pandereta to organizing performances and working as a team, La Tuniña brings together people of different ages and backgrounds. The result is a unique blend of musical passion, friendship, and personal development.
